Bergamo Airport continues to enjoy an upward trend in terms of passenger movements. In August 789,655 passengers transited through the airport (+17.3 per cent on August 2008), thanks in particular to a high average load factor on scheduled flights. In the first eight months of 2009 overall passenger movements totalled 4,819,399 (+8.4 per cent compared with January-August 2008), a result that is coupled with a more-than-satisfactory punctuality index for departing flights and fast baggage reclaim times.

The decline in air freight was reduced, with 6,513 tons transported in the month of August, down by 7.5% on a year ago, while the overall figure for the first eight months of 2009 (64,473 tons) showed a decrease of 22.9%.
The overall picture for aviation operations from January to August 2009 shows aircraft movements down by 1 per cent compared with the same period a year ago, with latest-generation, low-emissions aircraft being used on nearly all flights.
