FIRST HALF OF 2009: MORE PASSENGERS, FEWER AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS

Orio al Serio Airport confirms once more the positive balance in passenger movements in June. The total of 645,221 corresponds to an increase of 6.2 per cent compared with June 2008. The first six months of the current year saw 3,282,851 passengers transiting through the Bergamo airport, a growth of 4.7 per cent on the January-June 2008 period.
An analysis of the half-year trend charts a new milestone: for the first time the number of passengers exclusively on scheduled flights topped the three million mark, a result which stems from the high average load factor on scheduled connections and achieved despite the overall reduction in aircraft movements (–3.8 per cent compared with the first six months of 2009).

On the air freight front, the gap compared with 2008 is smaller in percentage terms yet the figure remains negative at –17.1% in June and –25.7% in the first half of 2009, with a total of 48,580 tons.
