Bergamo Airport traffic statistics for January 2009 recorded an increase of 4.2% in passenger movements compared with January 2008. This level of growth (from 431,507 one year ago to 449,224 this January just past) is in line with forecasts in the light of the difficulties produced by the continuing economic situation for air transport worldwide.

The figures confirm, in fact, the increase in the number of passengers using scheduled flights (+6.2%), while the movement of aircraft in this traffic segment fell by 1% compared with January 2008.

Air freight transported by courier aircraft fell from 10,881 to 7,170 tons (-34%), while the number of aircraft movements was down by 32% compared with 2008, affected by the general downward trend in the global network of the freight sector.
