Passenger numbers up, with a general fall in aircraft movements. These are the trends that characterised operations at Orio al Serio Airport in the first ten months of 2009. From January to October this year the total number of passengers transiting through the Bergamo airport was 6,083,568, 10.3 per cent up on the same period in 2008. October recorded a total of 614,346 passengers (+ 21.5 per cent compared with October 2008).

The volume of passengers continues to reflect the high average load factor on scheduled flights, while total aircraft movements between January and October 2009 (53,868) were 1.4 per cent lower than the figure for the first ten months of 2008.

Despite a slight recovery – albeit at lower levels than last year’s – air freight, almost entirely accounted for by courier flights, recorded a negative trend of 20.9 per cent in terms of goods moved between January and October.
