Passenger numbers up with aircraft movements practically unchanged. This is the picture that emerges from the overall data for operations in 2009 at Bergamo Airport, confirming the positive trend for scheduled flights, sustained by a load factor which was once again above the general average for air transport in percentage terms.

The high coefficients of occupation of available seats on the network of connections operating from the Bergamo airport enabled an overall volume of 7,160,008 passengers to be achieved (+ 10.4% on 2008). Aircraft movements totalled 65,314, representing a growth of 1.4% compared with the previous year, with a marked orientation towards daytime air traffic.

Cargo flights fell by 19.2% year-on-year. However, operations in 2009 registered a total of over 100,000 tonnes handled (the figure as of December 31st was 100,353, a decrease of 17.9% compared to 2008), a significant figure in a context that saw the effects of the international economic crisis impact this specific sector.
