The positive trend in passenger movements continues at Bergamo Airport, which in May 2009 recorded an increase of 8.5% compared with one year ago. The figure of 612,625 passengers, 40,000 up on the number of passengers who transited in May 2008, was obtained as a result of high average load factors on scheduled flights and confirms the preference accorded by users to the network of connections offered as well as the level of customer satisfaction with airport services.

In the first five months of 2009 passengers flying from Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport totalled 2,637,630, + 4.4 % compared with January-May 2008.

There was a smaller reduction in air freight, which continues to register a negative trend, as at other Italian airports, as a result of persistent economic difficulties. The amount of goods transported by courier-operated flights, 8,319 tons, was 20.4% lower compared with activity carried out in May 2008. Between January and May of the current year the total amount of courier-transported goods came to 40,064 tons, 27.3 % less than during the first five months of 2008.
