The positive trend in passenger movements continues at Bergamo Airport, which recorded an increase of 15.8% in September compared with one year ago. The number of passengers (651,589) was almost 90,000 higher than the number who transited through the Bergamo airport in September 2008. In the first nine months of the current year total passenger movements came to 5,470,988, up by 9.2% on January-September 2008.

This growth, which is related to the success and high average load factor of scheduled flights, corresponds to a total number of aircraft movements which was equivalent to that recorded during the first nine months of last year.
Air freight, mainly carried by couriers, remained at lower levels compared with 2008, although it has seen a gradual yet steady recovery. In comparison with September 2008 the amount of goods transported was 15% down, while the first nine months of 2009 showed a 22% reduction.
